As the children came into the class this morning, they noticed our elf on the shelf, Diamond is back! We were all very curious to learn more about her. The children thought we should write her some letters to get to know her. We decorated a mailbox, wrote letters... now we can't wait to hear back from her!
What a great way to finish off our bookstore inquiry. Our Grand Opening celebration was attended by Mrs. MacPhee and Mrs. Morrissey. Gage was our official "ribbon cutter". Josie read our class story (written and illustrated by the whole class). The best part - we had great snacks and juice to mark the occasion. Great job, KJW!
Our Superkids Bookstore is having a grand opening celebration tomorrow (Monday, November 24th). Some children mentioned they would like to "dress up" for the event. Feel free to dress your child in extra snazzy clothes (if you'd like!) :)
The class is participating in a Winter Wonderland Showcase on December 16th. The song chosen for our class is "Marshmallow World". We have been practicing singing it in class. You are welcome to check out the version below and sing along with your child to practice at home! :) P.S. More details regarding the showcase will follow... Wow! We are so proud of our class! The children helped package all of the toys and gifts sent in over the past few weeks today. First we sorted the gifts, then we drew pictures and wrote messages to the children who would receive the gifts, finally we packed all 10 of the shoeboxes as FULL as we could! Thank you, parents for all of the donations that were sent in!
Children are encouraged to wear a Christmas shirt (or red and green) and a Christmas hat to school on Wednesday, November 19th. Bring a loonie to support the shipping costs of our shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child.
We will be packing the boxes while listening to Christmas music during last block. Thanks! We wanted to say a GIANT THANK YOU for all of your support for the Operation Christmas Child campaign. We are still accepting donations (see earlier post for ideas). It has been a great way to get the kids excited about being kind to others.
Please be aware that today we sent home all spare clothing that was sent in September. Please re-send the bag with spare clothing suitable for the colder months (ex. long pants, long-sleeved shirts, socks, underwear). Thanks again! :) We have been exploring 2-dimensional shapes this month. We can identify many different shapes and have been creating pictures and designs with them.
Don't forget to send in your donations to our Operation Christmas Child Shoebox campaign (letters were sent home earlier this week about this school-wide initiative).
We are looking for items for children to pack in shoe boxes such as school supplies (ex. pencils, crayons, note pads, picture books), toys (ex. stuffed animals, small musical instruments, toy jewelry), hygiene items (toothbrushes, hairbrushes, solid soap, hair clips or elastics, not liquid soap), t-shirts, socks, books, etc. Each class has been challenged to work together to fill 10 shoeboxes. Each box costs $7 to help cover shipping costs. Donations toward shipping costs are also encouraged. All items and donations are due at school by Friday November 14th. Thank you for your support in such a meaningful program. |
